خليل جبران-My Favorite Artist: Khalil Gibran
Khalil Gibran was born on January 6th, 1885 in the northern Lebanese city of Bashry. He immigrated to America with his family, and after much back and forth, died in New York City on April 10th, 1931. In the United States, he studied English Literature, and proved to be an innovating author and artist in both the East and Western worlds.
Khalil felt that every person is both equal to everyone else, and also has a certain power. Because of the bloodshed in his native country, he vowed never to involve himself in politics and requested his friends to all close such subjects. He is famously quoted as saying, "I am not a politician, nor do I wish to become one" and "Spare me the political events and power struggles, as the whole earth is my homeland and all men are my fellow countrymen".
